In addition to the British Wheelchair Open Championships, Stones Events will stay at the Nottingham Tennis Centre for the following week this July, as entertain guests, participants and umpires at the Invacare World Team Cup for the first time.
The Invacare World Team Cup is held from 27th July – 2nd August 2009. The competition was created in 1985, arising out of an increase in foreign participation in the US Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships. Originally created as a warm-up tournament before the US Open, the tournament has always been known for creating international camaraderie, and after just six men’s teams competed in the inaugural event, with two women’s teams being added in the second year, the tournament has been held in a variety of nations, including Belgium (1992) and New Zealand (2004). The event is now in its 25th year, and the trophy (pictured right) has now become one of the most coveted in wheelchair sport.
Stones Events will be delighted to be part of the marking of the 25th anniversary of the ITF’s flagship annual wheelchair tennis team event, hosted by the Nottingham Tennis Centre for the third time, as they serve refreshments for over 300 people throughout the week, the culmination of which is the evening dinner, attended by 400 people, and held in the evening on Saturday 1st August.
